Midfielder latest

United reportedly remain interested in signing Juventus man Adrien Rabiot as they look to bolster their ranks in the next transfer window in January. According to a report by Italian news outlet CalcioMercato, they are ‘monitoring’ the situation of the France international at the moment as they weigh up a potential swoop in the future.

Ten Hag’s side were linked with him in the summer but a move to England didn’t materialise for him in the end and he stayed put. He has been on the books of his current club since joining them back in 2019 from PSG and he has since made 180 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with 18 goals.

Ex-player eyeing management role

Former United player Tom Cleverley has signalled his desire to become a manager. The 34-year-old announced his retirement from the game in July having last played for Watford in the Championship.

He joined the Red Devils as a youngster from Bradford City in 2000 and played 79 first-team games. The ex-England international has told Sky Sports: “Yes, that’s my long-term goal (to become a manager). You set your standards high and that will be no different as a coach.

“Right now, I’m learning every day and I’ve made a decent start to life as an U18s coach (at Watford). I feel like I’ve got the experience from playing but you must put in the hours as a coach, and I feel like I’ve got the work ethic for that. How far I’ll go, who knows yet? But I’m enjoying myself and I’m working hard.”
