Man Utd midfielder ‘likely to leave’ this summer as ‘gets along’ claim made

Marcel Sabitzer wants to sign a permanent contract at Manchester United, with the midfielder likely to leave parent club Bayern Munich in the summer.

That is per reports in Germany as Sport1, via FCB Inside, who claim the Austrian has his eyes set on a move to Old Trafford in the summer.

The 29-year-old arrived at Man United on-loan on deadline day after a serious injury to Christian Eriksen. The Austrian is said to get along well with manager Erik ten Hag.

Ahead of Sunday’s trip to Newcastle United, Sabitzer has played nine times for the Red Devils and scored his first goal in the 3-1 win over Fulham in the FA Cup before the international break.

Sabitzer received praise from the United boss after his performance against Fulham, as Ten Hag stated: “He had a great performance. We are glad he is back from injury.

“We will be playing a game every three days between now and the end of the season so we need as many fit players as possible.”

There is not believed to be an option to buy in the midfielder’s loan deal, meaning United would have to agree a fee with Bayern this summer if they want to keep Sabitzer.

A managerial change at Bayern could throw a potential permanent move in doubt, with ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel replacing Julian Nagelsmann in the Munich hotseat.

The Red Devils head to St James’ Park on Sunday and Sabitzer is expected to be available for the game after an injury concern,

The on-loan Bayern Munich man picked up a knee injury during the international break but returned to training during the week and is likely to be called upon as Ten Hag remains short of options in midfield.
