How Man Utd & Man City 2021/22 squad wages compare to Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea & more - gallery

We’ve ranked the 12 highest wages in European football, which includes five Premier League giants.

Manchester United and Manchester City have assembled two of the most-talented teams in European football.

The summer arrival of Erling Haaland has only bolstered a squad containing Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri and Joao Cancelo, while United, although they struggled last term and finished sixth, had top stars such as Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Raphael Varane in their ranks.

Unsurprisingly, that means the squads of Erik ten Hag and Pep Guardiola are among some of the best paid on the planet, especially given the growth in Premier League finances over recent years. Deloitte recently reported on the financial figures for the 2021/22 campaign, with the Swiss Ramble subsequently analysing the numbers with a detailed report.

Among them are revenue growth, matchday revenue, commercial revenue, broadcast revenue, financial accounts, growth and an analysis of the numbers comparing Premier League sides with those in Europe, during last season.

The report also looked at the wages European clubs pay their players. Featured in the top 12 were five English clubs - United, City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea - alongside several other top European clubs in Spain, Germany and France.

We’ve had a look at the figures and ranked which clubs had the highest wages in 2021/22.
