The latest Manchester United and Manchester City transfer news

Manchester United and Manchester City are both seeking to improve their positions from last season with the 2025-26 Premier League campaign around six weeks away.

United had a disastrous campaign as they finished 15th without any silverware. City finished third and trophy-less but have secured their place back in the Champions League. A disastrous run of form during the autumn made it seem like Pep Guardiola’s side would struggle for a top five spot but it proved to be straightforward in the end.

Both clubs have added to their squads already this summer, with City securing a number of signings in early June as Guardiola looked to bolster his options for the Club World Cup. Ruben Amorim is keen to put his stamp on the Red Devils squad and is eyeing a number of additions across the pitch.

Kyle Walker closes in on move to Burnley

As City have added to their squad, they have also looked to move people on. One of those is right-back Kyle Walker. He spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan but the Serie A side opted against buying the right-back permanently.

Reports last month claimed he had agreed a one-year deal with Everton but the Toffees appear to have moved onto other targets. They looked to sign Kenny Tete on a free transfer from Fulham but he has now agreed a new deal at Craven Cottage. Kyle Walker-Peters is now emerging as a top target after he left Southampton and is now a free agent.

However, despite a move to the Toffees falling through, Walker now looks to have found his next club, according to David Ornstein. He reported for The Athletic that Walker has agreed a two-year deal with newly-promoted Burnley with the deal between City and the Clarets worth up to £5m. The 35-year-old was undergoing a medical on Friday.

Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa but a permanent move has not materialised. A swap deal for Ollie Watkins had been suggested but Rashford was not keen on a return to Villa, with Romano now revealed he is holding out for Barcelona.
