Manchester City cruised to a comprehensive 3-0 away victory against city-rivals Manchester United to emphasise the vast gulf in quality between the two sides.
The ever-reliable Erling Haaland and Phil Foden got their names on the scoresheet for Pep Guardiola’s team, while the likes of John Stones, Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva all enjoyed dominant performances at Old Trafford.
The result keeps the Citizens in third place and two points behind early pace setters Tottenham, but they are now level on points with last year’s runners-up Arsenal.
Meanwhile pressure is intensifying on Erik Ten Hag to get things right at Old Trafford and they have already lost five of their opening 10 games this term.
The win for Manchester City hands them a huge boost in their hopes of lifting a fourth consecutive title, while the Red Devils will hope for a huge response in the coming weeks.
