Chukwuemeka’s current contract at Villa Park expires next summer, and the 18-year-old could be sold in the coming weeks to prevent him from leaving on a free further down the line.
The teenager has been omitted from his side’s preseason tour of Australia, and addressing the situation, manager Steven Gerrard said: “Carney’s yet to sign a contract offer that’s been in place for some time now, so I’ve decided that the best thing for him would be to continue his training programme back at Bodymoor.”

The French defender could be available for as little as £8 million this summer, and it is claimed that the Red Devils have now approached the 29-year-old - with the Blues also monitoring him over a year.
However, it is also understood that a formal move for the full-back could depend on whether or not United are able to offload Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the coming weeks.
