All the latest transfer news and speculation involving Manchester United.

Manchester United continued their impressive preseason preparations with a comfortable 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory on Friday - and swiftly followed it up with a couple of pieces of eye-catching transfer business.

The confirmed arrival of Chrisitan Eriksen, alongside the ever-approaching signing of Lisandro Martinez, have bolstered the Red Devils’ ranks somewhat, but the expectation is that they will continue to recruit as the window progresses.

With that in mind, here is Saturday’s United-related transfer speculation...

Villa name Chukwuemeka price

Aston Villa have put a £20 million price tag on United target Carney Chukwuemeka, acccording to talkSPORT.

The promising midfielder is understood to be attracting attention from a number of high-profile clubs, including the Red Devils, Manchester City, Barcelona, and Borussia Dortmund.

Chukwuemeka’s current contract at Villa Park expires next summer, and the 18-year-old could be sold in the coming weeks to prevent him from leaving on a free further down the line.

The teenager has been omitted from his side’s preseason tour of Australia, and addressing the situation, manager Steven Gerrard said: “Carney’s yet to sign a contract offer that’s been in place for some time now, so I’ve decided that the best thing for him would be to continue his training programme back at Bodymoor.”

United linked with Clauss

United have been linked with a move for Lens right-back Jonathan Clauss, but face competition from Chelsea, the Evening Standard report.

The French defender could be available for as little as £8 million this summer, and it is claimed that the Red Devils have now approached the 29-year-old - with the Blues also monitoring him over a year.

However, it is also understood that a formal move for the full-back could depend on whether or not United are able to offload Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the coming weeks.

United not giving up on De Jong

United are not giving up hope in their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, according to Fabrizio Romano – despite the player making it clear that he would prefer to stay at Barcelona.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the Dutchman this summer, but appear to have a hit a snag in their attempted swoop for the midfielder.

Transfer chiefs at Old Trafford remain undeterred, however, with Romano writing on his personal Twitter account: “Nothing changed on de Jong side.

“He has still no intention to leave, while Manchester United and Barca agreed €85m (£72m) fee add-ons included.

“Frenkie’s priority has always been to stay, while Man Utd are not giving up. His agent told player position to Barca yesterday”.
