Man Utd looking to table 'powerful offer' for £94m-rated attacker after 'personal request' from Erik ten Hag

The Reds have reportedly set their sights on this goalscoring powerhouse ahead of the summer window.

Manchester United have not been shy when it comes to spending big on attacking players. Over the last three years, the Red Devils have forked out a combined £219 million on Jadon Sancho, Antony and Rasmus Højlund.

They also agreed an initial fee of £55 million with Chelsea for the signature of Mason Mount as they prioritised welcoming more creativity into their engine room. Now, with Sancho tipped to leave Old Trafford permanently, rumours of Antony's exit, and Anthony Martial out of contract this summer, it's no surprise that United are exploring new options to boost their presence in front of goal.

The Reds have been linked to a number of high profile attackers, unafraid to flex their muscles on the transfer market. According to Fichajes, Inter Milan's Lautaro Martínez has 'fully emerged' as one of United's 'big goals for next season'. The report claims that Erik ten Hag put in a 'personal request' that the club explore the possibility of signing the 26-year-old.

Martínez has been setting the stage alight with Inter for several seasons now. Since signing in 2018, the Argentina international has contributed 124 goals and 41 assists in 268 appearances. He hit the ground running in his debut season, notching nine goals and two assists across all competitions, since then, he has hit double goal-scoring figures in every season.

Martínez's best return came last season when he tallied a whopping 28 goals and 11 assists. He is well on his way to potentially match that this term as well, with 22 goals and five assists to his name so far across all tournaments. It's not difficult at all to see why ten Hag has personally asked for United to keep tabs on the striker.

The report claims that the Reds are looking to 'put an offer on the table powerful enough' to convince Inter to part ways with their star goalscorer. Martínez is under contract until 2026 and while a transfer figure hasn't been mentioned by Fichajes, Transfermarkt currently value the Argentinian at €110 million (£94 million).

He is valued at the same amount as the likes of Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Phil Foden. Only Bukayo Saka, Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, and Jude Bellingham are worth more in the whole world.
