Man Utd loan watch: The 17 players returning to the club this summer - including Anthony Martial

Here are the 17 players returning to Manchester United once their loan spells finish at the end of the season.

Manchester United brought to a close a disappointment season last weekend which saw the club finish sixth in the Premier League table with 58 points.

The points tally, which was their lowest in the competition since its inaugural campaign in 1992/93, wasn’t the only underwhelming factor to their campaign with the Red Devils also going a fifth season without silverware.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November after almost three years in charge at Old Trafford and was replaced by Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis. The latter couldn’t help the club achieve their aim of a top four finish.

Attention now turns to the summer and new manager Erik ten Hag has a huge job on his hands in terms of transfer activity.

United are expected to lose at least six first team players this summer, including club record signing Paul Pogba, with the Frenchman out of contract on 30 June. The midfielder will be joined by Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Lee Grant who are all set to leave Old Trafford next month.

The latter won’t be continuing his playing career after announcing his retirement from the game on Thursday at the age of 39.

However, Ten Hag’s expected revamp of the squad will be made even tougher when 17 players who are currently out on loan, including Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek, return to the club.

With that being said, let’s take a look at which 17 players will be returning to the Red Devils after their loan spells come to an end this summer.
