Manchester United are looking to bounce back from a bitter defeat at the hands of Newcastle United on Sunday with three points against Brentford tonight.

The impressive Bees won't go down easy but Erik ten Hag's side do have the home advantage as they return to Old Trafford for the first time since the international break.

Depending on how The Magpies fare at West Ham, three points would propel United back to third place in the Premier League.

Here are the latest transfer rumours from Manchester United.

United to move for relegation-doomed England star

Manchester United could target Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse this summer to help bolster options in midfield.

Football Insider report that sources have informed them that the Englishman is a summer target for Erik ten Hag, who is expected to clear out unwanted stars such as Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek this summer. Marcel Sabitzer is also set to return to parent club Bayern Munich at the end of the season with a permanent move for the star still not confirmed.

That would make way for new arrivals and, should Southampton be relegated from the Premier League, Ward-Prowse's pedigree would make a move back into the top flight seem inevitable.

Newcastle and Aston Villa are also said to be interested in the services of the midfielder who has 47 goals and 38 Premier League assists in 336 appearances.

Goncalo Ramos release clause tempts Red Devils

Manchester United are ready to activate the €120 million release clause in the contract of Benfica star Goncalo Ramos.

The striker, who has 25 goals and 10 assists this season, has been heavily linked with the Red Devils in recent months.

Now, Portuguese outlet A Bola report that United have 'agreed internally' that the 21-year-old is worth the release clause fee.

Erik ten Hag is said to still be prioritising other targets in Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen but both Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli could prove hard business partners in agreeing to a deal.

The chance to activate Ramos' release clause would allow the club to act decisively in their hunt for a talisman this summer.
