Manchester United are now turning their attention to the Carabao Cup after a disappointing weekend.

The Red Devils lost 3-1 to Aston Villa away from home to lose more ground in the top four race, and they will now be looking to regain some confidence as they prepare to face Villa again on Thursday, though this time in the cup. United will then face Fulham away from home in the Premier League - their last outing before the World Cup break.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

Gakpo update

United face competition over the signing of PSV star Cody Gakpo. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has provided an update, including the price facing clubs interested in the Dutch winger.

“Gakpo’s value will be close to €50m (£43m) again. It depends on bonuses and conditions, but PSV always wanted €50m package for Gakpo,” Romano has said. “For sure Man Utd will face serious competition; English clubs and not only, it’s an open race.”

Leeds and Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Gakpo, who looks likely to be on the move in the January transfer window.

United are said to be interested in a deal to sign Lille star Jonathan David.

According to GIVEMESPORT, United, along with rivals Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham will all be watching David’s performances at the upcoming World Cup with Canada. Those clubs could make a move if David does impress, but it’s worth keeping in mind that Lille already want upwards of £40million, and that fee will likely rise if David has a breakout World Cup.

The forward has already racked up 22 goals in 34 appearances for Lille, adding to a fine goal record at Gent, where he managed 30 goals in 60 appearances.
