Man Utd 'learn' in-demand midfielder asking price after rejected bid as club urged to sign two players

A round-up of the latest Manchester United transfer news

It looks set to be a summer of change at Manchester United as Jim Ratcliffe strives to make his mark at Old Trafford. This will be the Ratcliffe’s first transfer window as a co-owner and he'll be striving to make it count as he pushes to make changes.

The situation surrounding Erik ten Hag is uncertain at this point in time and only once a decision has been made will the club shift their focus onto making additions for the upcoming Premier League season. That hasn't stopped the club from being linked to a host of new players this summer already and with that in mind, here's a round-up of the latest Man United news.

United show Palhinha interest

Man United are one of the clubs to have shown an interest in Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha. The Portugal international made 33 Premier League appearances for Fulham this season to build on what was an impressive first season at Craven Cottage last time around.

Palhinha isn't short of interest this summer then it seems, with Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol claiming United, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are all keen. Palhinha came close to joining Bayern last summer and the German giants are said to have seen a £30m bid rejected for the 28-year-old.

The report claims Fulham are looking to receive double that figure with Bayern being told to up their offer considerably. However, it would still seem as if Bayern are leading the chase, with the managerial uncertainty at United and Barcelona's financial woes making moves look unlikely at this stage of the summer.

Bayern may just be able to steal a march then, should they return with an improved offer that Fulham deem to be acceptable. United are thought to be keen on bolstering their midfield ranks this summer with Casemiro struggling for form this season and Sofyan Amrabat's loan coming to an end.

Sharpe urges United to sign Palace pair

Manchester United should be pushing to sign Crystal Palace pair Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze this summer. That's the belief of former Red Devils man Lee Sharpe, who believes the pair would be able to add excitement and confidence to the Old Trafford front line.

The club have been linked to both men in the past but they aren't the only ones carrying an interest this summer. Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly keen on Olise, who scored 10 goals in 19 appearances this season. Eze, on the other hand, bagged 11 in 27 while playing mainly behind the striker and Sharpe believes the pair would certainly have something to add to United's attack.

"I certainly think he is the kind of player that United could do with," Sharpe said on Olise when speaking to 1337 Games, via the Metro.

"As much as he is a creative ballplayer and creates chances, he also does his fair share of working back and doesn’t give the ball away very cheaply, so I think he suits what every club is looking for, let alone Man United. But he’s certainly exciting, he can score goals, and he’s exactly what they need.

"I know Antony has been a bit of a disappointment from a perspective of seeming to lack loads of confidence, just turns back on his left foot and passes it backwards or sideways, not really going at people like you would have expected. Someone like Eze would change that."
