Man Utd 'launch £100m transfer plan' with duo 'offered' to Saudi clubs

Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks set to oversee major investment this summer but Man Utd may also have to sell current underperforming players.

Manchester United could wield the axe on two under-performing stars this summer with reports suggesting both Jadon Sancho and Antony have been 'offered' to Saudi Pro League clubs.

United spent a combined £159million on the pair but are yet to be rewarded for their investment. Jadon Sancho left on loan for Borussia Dortmund earlier this month, following a fallout with Erik ten Hag and his subsequent exile from the first-team, while Antony has frustrated since following Ten Hag from Ajax in the summer of 2022.

The Brazilian has been distracted by allegations of abuse made against him by an ex-partner in Brazil - claims he strongly denies - but is yet to register a single goal or assist from 22 appearances across all competitions. Ten Hag insisted last week that the £86m winger must 'do better' and has preferred to use one of Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho on their unnatural side at times.

The Evening Standard reports that both have been offered to clubs in the Saudi Pro League, with United keen to recoup a large portion of their expenditure on the pair. They are said to want around £50m for each winger and were in talks with Al Ettifaq over a loan for Sancho that included an option to buy for that amount in the summer.

The pair are among five United players to be linked with moves to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, with United set to overhaul their squad under the control of Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Multiple reports have suggested the club would be open to selling Casemiro, either this month or in the summer, and only Saudi Pro League clubs would be willing and able to afford a deal for the 31-year-old.

Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial have also been linked with moves to the Middle East, with the pair's contracts both set to expire in the summer. United opted against activating a 12-month extension on those deals at a time when they did for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal Mejbri - who has since joined Sevilla on loan.

Ten Hag insisted the club were in talks with both Martial and Varane but as it stands, both will leave Old Trafford as free agents when their respective deals expire in June.
