Manchester United have submitted a new bid for Ajax winger Antony, ManchesterWorld understands.

The Brazilian has been one of the club’s main transfer priorities this summer, but even a few weeks ago it was thought that Ajax’s demands would prevent a deal from happening.

Yet, the player’s intervention seems to have played a huge role in changing the feeling around a potential transfer, with Antony informing Ajax he does not intend to play for the club again and wants to join United.

ManchesterWorld has been told there is ‘only one outcome now’ as a deal looks increasingly likely.

Antony wasn’t included in Ajax’s matchday squad as the Amsterdam side beat Sparta Rotterdam 1-0 on Sunday, and his agent posted a picture of the pair watching United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday.

As per Fabrizio Romano, personal terms are already in place with United and Antony, and it’s just a case of the clubs now agreeing a fee.

“Man Utd will do their best to sign Antony, total priority,” he tweeted. “Five year deal was agreed almost 10 days ago. Up to the clubs.”

Meanwhile, The Athletic claim United submitted an offer of €80m (£67.4m) which was rejected, with a figure closer to €94m (£79.2m) now being discussed.

A move for Antony would be United’s fifth summer signing, following the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro.

A transfer would also continue the policy of signing players with links to Dutch football, with Antony previously playing under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

Last season, the attacker contributed 12 goals and 10 assists from 33 appearances in all competitions. Antony has also become a regular in the Brazil squad and stands every chance of being included in their World Cup squad later this year.

It could be a busy end to the transfer window for United, with the club willing to spend significant sums in order to recruit new signings.

The Glazers, it is believed, were unnerved by the team’s start to the new campaign and feared what impact a bottom-half finish could have on the club.
