United are keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon defender Gonçalo Inácio ahead of the upcoming transfer window as they look to bolster their ranks with some signings. According to Portuguese news outlet O Jogo (via Sport Witness), they have been tracking the 21-year-old ahead of a potential swoop in the next future.

He could be seen as a long-term option at the back at Old Trafford and an alternative to Harry Maguire. Phil Jones is also moving on.

Centre-back could leave

United could ‘loan’ out Maguire this summer, as per GiveMeSport. The England international, who has played for the likes of Sheffield United, Hull City and Leicester City, has slipped down the pecking order under Ten Hag and is no longer a regular starter.

The 30-year-old signed for the Red Devils back in 2019 and has since made 147 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with seven goals from the back. Offloading him would free up space and funds in the squad for other reinforcements to come through the door, with many players expected to be linked over the next few weeks and months.
