Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is on the verge of completing a move to Crystal Palace.

Having been linked with a move away all summer, the 26-year-old is booked in for a Palace medical with Roy Hodgson’s men on Sunday.

Henderson was on the bench for United’s 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday but it looks like being his last involvement with Erik Ten Hag’s side with it understood he was travelling down to London after the game.

Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman was in attendance at Old Trafford on Saturday closing out the deal.

The shot-stopper had been widely expected to return to Nottingham Forest where he spent time on loan last season but they instead turned to Arsenal’s Matt Turner. Sheffield United were also believed to have expressed an interest in taking him back to Bramall Lane.

But Palace will be his destination with both a loan with an obligation to buy and a permanent deal having been discussed.

However the deal is structured, it will free up United to complete a deal for Fenerbahce's Altay Bayindir who will come in as his replacement.

When asked about a potential Henderson deal and the final week of the transfer window, Ten Hag said: “If that is the case (Henderson joining Palace) we will bring that news. We have prepared well, we are fully in control so if there are transfers we need to keep the squad competitive. It will be a tough season, many games, in many positions you need double and with goalkeeping you need three.”
