Erik ten Hag’s side have a home clash against Fulham up first. In the meantime, here is a look at some of the latest news and rumours coming out of the club...

Bayern Munich pursuit latest

United ‘remain in talks’ with Bayern Munich for defensive pair Matthis de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, according to The Telegraph. The report claims personal terms of a five-year deal each have already been ‘agreed’ for the duo but a joint bid has been rejected as the two parties look to reach an agreement on a price tag.

De Ligt, who is 24-years-old, rose up through the academy ranks at Ajax before breaking into their first-team. He then spent three years at Juventus before joining his current side in 2022 and has made 73 appearances in all competitions since his switch to the Allianz Arena.

As for Mazraoui, the right-back is a Morocco international with 28 caps under his belt. If he joined the Old Trafford outfit, that could pave the way for West Ham target Aaron Wan-Bissaka to head out the exit door for a fresh start.

He also progressed up through the prestigious youth set-up at Ajax. Bayern signed him in 2022 and he has since featured for the German giants on 55 occasions, 29 of which came in the last campaign.

Wing-back update

United want a fee in the region of £18million for Wan-Bissaka this summer, according to the Daily Mail. The wing-back is on West Ham’s radar and has also been linked with Inter Milan in Serie A.

The 27-year-old moved to the North West back in 2019 after catching the eye as a youngster at Crystal Palace. He has since played 190 matches for the Reds Devils altogether to date but could now leave.

United risk losing him for free next year with his contract due to expire in 2025. Therefore, selling him now or in January would mean they pick up a fee for his services.

Wan-Bissaka played against Liverpool in the team’s latest friendly clash as they were beaten 3-0 over in America. However, it remains to be seen at this stage whether he will still be around for the start of the upcoming campaign amid attention from elsewhere in this window.

Speaking after the loss to Liverpool, Ten Hag said: “There were mixed feelings, I would say. I think I have seen positive bits, but the way we concede goals, we are, of course, not happy with it. Of course, Liverpool are a very good side. They are very aggressive, and they have lots of goalscoring abilities, so they did very well. But the way we conceded, we are not happy with it. "As I said, I think there were good bits, and the first goal is always very important. I thought Liverpool played very well, but they were also very efficient."
