Manchester United are now preparing for a clash with Wolves as they look to wrap up a Champions League spot. Erik ten Hag’s men suffered a potentially costly defeat to West Ham United last time out, allowing Liverpool to close the gap, but they remain in charge of their own fate.

United can’t afford another slip-up, though, not if they want to avoid handing Liverpool real hope of landing a Champions League spot. Wolves have nothing to lose heading to Old Trafford, making them potentially dangerous opponents, but United have been solid at home this season. As preparations for the clash ramp up, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding Old Trafford.

Vieira’s advice

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira has told Erik ten Hag what he can expect from Jim Ratcliffe if the Nice owner completes a takeover of Man Utd. Having worked with Ratcliffe in France, Vieira said: “He’d never interfere with my work.

“We’d talk about football when we met, about the team and our lives, but he’s not an owner who will get involved too much and prevent the manager from doing his job. His ambitions and expectations are high, so you know where you stand, but you can do your job freely.”

Sommer boost

United are said to be interested in a move for Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer ahead of this summer. Sommer was linked with the Red Devils last summer, but the Swiss international wound up joining Bayern.

According to journalist Christian Falk, though, Sommer has a gentlemen’s agreement with Bayern that he can leave this summer if Manuel Neuer returns to the number one spot at the club. United may be on the lookout for a goalkeeper should Dean Henderson leave, with more competition needed, despite David De Gea seemingly agreeing a new contract.
