Man Utd Fixtures: Red Devils handed mouthwatering Arsenal clash in opening weeks as WSL fixtures revealed

Manchester United face an opening day away trip to Aston Villa which will be screened live on the BBC as the Women's Super League fixtures are revealed. Here are their key dates for the 23/24 season.

Manchester United will begin their 2023-24 Women's Super League campaign with a trip to the Midlands as they take on Aston Villa.

Marc Skinner's side will head to Villa Park for the opening game of the season on Sunday 1 October for a 12:30pm kick-off that will be screened live on BBC Two, the broadcaster has confirmed.

However, it will be United's first home game the following week which catches the eye of Red Devil's fans, as title rivals Arsenal - and former favourite Alessia Russo - arrive at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday 8 October (kick off: 12pm). Skinner's side were the victors in both games against the Gunners last year, with Russo scoring the winning goal in both games.

The 24-year-old Lionesses striker opted to leave the Manchester club this summer in order to move to WSL rivals Arsenal on a free transfer, much to the anger of many United fans and her return is sure to spark intrigue.

United will then finish up the opening month of the WSL season with a home game against Leicester City on Sunday 15 October before they face the trip south to Brighton on Sunday 5 November.

Fans do not have to wait long for the Manchester derby with neighbours City either, with the home game scheduled to take place on November 19. The return game away to Manchester City will come on March 23 2024.

The final game of the season is already a mouthwatering one after it was confirmed that champions Chelsea will be the visitors on the final day of the WSL campaign, scheduled to be Saturday 18 May 2024. Manchester United's away clash against the Blues has been pencilled in for Sunday 21 January 2024.
