Manchester United fans are happier with their summer transfer business than supporters of any other club in the Premier League.

That is according to OLBG, who have analysed the sentiment among the fanbases of all 20 teams in the English top flight.

Through the ‘Transfer Tracker’, OLGB analysed the sentiment around every fan tweet and determined whether a positive or negative view was held. This data was then used to determined which group of supporters are happiest about their transfer activity, with United coming out on top.

The Red Devils have signed Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton this summer, while also retaining all of their top stars, such as Paul Pogba.

United topped the poll ahead of Aston Villa, who have wisely reinvested the money they earned from Jack Grealish’s transfer to Manchester City, in Danny Ings, Emiliano Buendia and Leon Bailley.

Leeds United are third in the list with City in fourth, although that could well be boosted should the champions sign Harry Kane before the close of the window next week.

On the other end of the scale, Burnley finished bottom of the poll, just behind Wolverhampton Wanderers and then Liverpool.

Most popular signings

United also registered the most popular signing of the summer among fans, with Varane marginally beating Chelsea supporters’ approval for the acquisition of Romelu Lukaku.

Meanwhile, the most talked about transfer on Twitter between 13th July to 9th August, when the research was undertaken, was Grealish’s £100m move to City.

There were 134,907 tweets surrounding the England international’s move, while Grealish is the fourth most popular signing with fans this summer.
