Man United make firm steps to sign 'better version of Erling Haaland' available for just £59 million

Manchester United are set to go after a new striker this summer as they look for more goals, after what has been a poor season especially in attack for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have combined for just seven Premier League goals, giving United the fifth lowest scoring record in the league. They have already reportedly agreed to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves, who has scored 15 league goals this season.

Manchester United remain keen on Viktor Gyokeres
Viktor Gyokeres previously played under Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP, which caused suggestions of a move to Old Trafford as soon as the Portuguese manager made the switch to the North West. He has been strongly linked to rivals Arsenal, however, according to reports in France, United officials are set to accelerate their attempts to sign Gyokeres this summer.
L’Equipe report that Man United’s management are hoping to complete the arrival of Gyokeres this summer, despite the fact that they are already likely set to spend over £60m on Cunha from Wolves. Reports have suggested that Arsenal or Man United could sign Gyokeres for £59 million, which is less than was suggested earlier in the year. The Sweden international has been on fire this season, scoring 39 league goals in 33 games this season.
He has received a lot of praise this season, with perhaps the biggest coming from former Premier League midfielder Raphael van der Vaart, who said on TNT Sports that Gyokeres is “a better version of Erling Haaland”. The Man City star has scored 21 goals in 30 Premier League games this season.

As things stand, the battle for Gyokeres between Arsenal and Man United looks more tilted in the Gunners’ favour, as they have been contending for the Premier League title, plus secured Champions League football this season.
However, Man United have the chance to also get Champions League football by winning the Europa League final against Tottenham this week. It has previously been reported that Gyokeres would consider moving to Old Trafford if they are in Europe’s top competition.
That said, earlier in the season, Amorim spoke about the speculation between Gyokeres and United, suggesting that he wants players that want to move to Old Trafford rather than play in specific competitions.
Amorim told Portuguese outlet Sport TV earlier in the season: “Gyokeres deal? I didn’t talk to him. But if a player only wants to come to Man United to play Champions League, then he won’t come. We want players who want to represent United, not players who want to play certain competitions.”
