Manchester United are exploring a summer move for Michael Olise and could offer Aaron Wan-Bissaka in return, according to reports. Olise continues to attract the interest of top Premier League clubs amid another fine campaign at Crystal Palace. The 22-year-old missed a large chunk of the season but has five goals including three in his last two.

United have been linked to Olise already this month and it is thought that the Frenchman has been earmarked as the first major signing of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era. And now ESPN reports details of a proposal that could see Wan-Bissaka returning to Selhurst Park.

Wan-Bissaka signed from Palace for £50million in 2019 but the right-back has been unable to nail down a regular starting place, sharing minutes with the more attacking Diogo Dalot. Erik ten Hag is keen to sign a clear first-choice in that area which would likely mean one of the current pair moving on.

United triggered a 12-month extension on Wan-Bissaka's contract last month - one of three alongside Victor Lindelof and Hannibal Mejbri - but that is not an indicator of their desire to keep him. The decision may also have been taken in order to protect the defender's value and avoid him leaving for free in the summer.

Olise was thought to have been available for just £35m last summer due to a release clause which Chelsea activated. But the attacker opted to remain at Palace and in a surprise decision, penned a new four-year deal in August. That new contract is also thought to contain a release clause which will come into effect this summer, but the value is unknown - although it is expected to be far higher than £35m.

This most recent report suggests some at Old Trafford are unsure about pursuing Olise, pointing to the struggles of Wilfried Zaha in making the step up to a club like United. But goals have been a problem in that area for Ten Hag and Olise's five Premier League efforts is more than Antony, Facundo Pellistri, Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho combined.
