‘Here we go’ - Man Utd complete signing of teenage sensation as they consider offer for 60-cap international

The latest transfer headlines from Manchester United ahead of a potentially transformative window for Ruben Amorim’s side

Manchester United have kickstarted the Ruben Amorim era with the signing of 17-year-old Paraguayan wonderkid Diego Leon.

The talented left-back, who is described locally as one of ‘the greatest promises in Paraguayan football’ is set to arrive at Manchester United in July 2025 when he turns 18.

Leon, who plays for Primera División title hopefuls Cerro Porteno has racked up 19 appearances this season whilst scoring two goals. He is renowned for his excellent pace, attacking prowess and workrate at both ends of the pitch and is adept at playing in the wing-back role, making him a potential long-term successor to Luke Shaw and another competitor to summer signing Noussair Mazraoui.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “Diego León has signed all documents to join Manchester United in 2025.

“Contracts in place for 17 year old left back to become Man United player from July 2025, when he turns 18.

“Deal sealed by Jason Wilcox after South America lead scout Giuseppe Antonaccio pushed for León as talent.

“Paraguayan LB joins from Cerro Porteno for $4m fixed fee, $1m easy add-ons, $2/3k extra difficult add-ons.

“Here we go, confirmed.”

Man Utd consider loan offers for experienced star

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford scored the first goal of the Ruben Amorim era after just two minutes at Ipswich and followed that up with a double against Everton, in what looked to be the start of an upturn in fortunes for the out-of-form England international.

However, since then the forward has played just 62 minutes of Premier League football and has been dropped from the matchday squad entirely for both of the last two games, sparking talk of a departure in January.

Rashford is not believed to be a part of Amorim’s long-term vision at the club and is expected to be ‘out of the picture’ for the foreseeable, according to a report from Sun Sport.

The outlet claim the Red Devils are keen to find a quick resolution to Rashford’s short-term future and claim that loan offers will be considered in January.

The report goes on to say that Manchester United will not do business with another Premier League rival but does state that offers from Saudi Arabia will be considered for the 60-time international.

As it stands, three Saudi Pro League sides in Al Ahli, Al Ittihad and Al Qadisha have expressed an interest in signing Rashford, according to TalkSport.
