McKennie links

United are said to be interested in a surprise move for Juventus midfielder and former Leeds United loanee Weston McKennie. According to GiveMeSport, the Red Devils have lined up the American as an alternative to Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi, who may be tough to sign this summer.

McKennie struggled with Leeds last season, but he has gone on to return to Juve and play an important part in their campaign. The 25-year-old is under contract until 2025 and is valued at more than £20million by Transfermarkt. His performances for the Serie A side this term have seen him retain his place in the latest USA squad for the CONCACAF Nations League next week.

Ferdinand on Lindelof

United legend Rio Ferdinand is not happy with Victor Lindelof having to play left-back despite the fact the Sweden international has coped well in games against so-called lesser opposition.

"Mad, it’s killing me,” Ferdinand said on his latest Five podcast. “He is doing it right, but it is just like you don’t have to do be doing that. We are playing people out of position, never playing the same back-four, really. Midfield changing quite a lot.” Lindelof is filling in on the left due to both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia being out through injury, Sofyan Amrabat is also an option at left-back, but he is also playing out of position when deployed there.
