Rasmus Hojlund has taken part in his first full training session.

Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund has taken part in his first full training session, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has revealed.

The striker won't be available for Saturday's visit of Nottingham Forest (KO 3pm) but is closing in on making his debut following his summer move from Atalanta.

Speaking to the press on Friday afternoon, ten Hag said: "Today, for the first time, he came into team training. Next week we expect him to do a full week with all the team trainings. So he's very near to making the squad."

However, left-back Luke Shaw will be out for a number of weeks with a muscle injury. The 28-year-old defender is a mainstay of ten Hag’s side and started the first two Premier League matches of the season.

But Shaw will miss Saturday’s Old Trafford encounter against Nottingham Forest and next weekend’s trip to Arsenal.

United had already announced an injury to Mason Mount ahead of the Forest match and it remains unclear whether new boy Rasmus Hojlund will be fit to make his debut. Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo and Tom Heaton are also out.

ten Hag said: "We can’t do (exact details), that’s personal in these days,” he said. “For some period they will be absent, where Luke will be longer (than) Mason.

“Luke will be longer and Mason, I think, quicker.”
