Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag issues snappy response to transfer rumours surrounding 'unstoppable' star

Erik ten Hag has issued a response to rumours Marcus Rashford could leave Manchester United this summer.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has responded to rumours surrounding a possible departure for Marcus Rashford this summer. Rashford has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain over recent weeks amid mixed form this season.

The England international has shown he is capable of producing world-class performances, but consistency has been hard to come back, and that has been shown by the drop off in form he has suffered this season. Then again, that applies to the vast majority of United players amid a disappointing season as a collective.

Rashford will have wanted better from his season so far, but there have been some signs of life over the last few weeks. Rashford scored a stunner at Manchester City and netted a penalty in the win over Everton last time out.

The 26-year-old continues to be linked with a move away ahead of the summer, though, with PSG reportedly lurking. Ten Hag was asked about the topic during his pre-Liverpool press conference on Friday, and he issued a short and snappy response to shut down the rumours.

"We did not sign him last season for four years with the intention to sell him now," he said before moving on. Rashford penned his new deal only last season, allowing Manchester United to have significant command over future. The Red Devils would likely demand a huge fee to sell the England international, and especially with cash-rich PSG involved.

Speaking about Rashford in January, Ten Hag said: Once again, he is actually unstoppable when he is in this mood, when he is in this spirit, in this focus. But [he can] keep going when he keeps this focus. I know football. Football form is a thin line so don’t drop off. We all know he can stay there but also the team can work for him and we can bring him in such positions that he can score such goals.”
