Manchester United continued their positive start to 2024 with a commanding 3-0 win at home to West Ham on Sunday. Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring at Old Trafford with Alejandro Garnacho's second-half brace ensuring all three points remained at Old Trafford.

United had a very quiet January with no new signings through the door but plans are already being put in place for a summer of major investment. And in the meantime, ManchesterWorld has rounded up some of the latest transfer stories coming out of Old Trafford.

Defensive 'bidding war'

United look set to do battle with West Ham for Le Havre defender Arouna Sangante this summer. Football Insider reports that the Hammers and Nottingham Forest actually made deadline-day moves for the 21-year-old but saw them knocked back.

Central defence is a priority area to strengthen at United in the summer and Erik ten Hag is keen to lower the age profile in that area of the pitch. It is likely that more than one new signing will come through the door, with Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane both set to leave as free agents.

Sangante has attracted the interest of Europe's top clubs since breaking into the first-team picture at Le Havre, who have a reputation developing the likes of Paul Pogba, Dimitri Payet and Riyad Mahrez. The Ligue 1 side are thought to be open to a permanent deal.

Eriksen linked with exit

Christian Eriksen could still leave United this week amid reports of interest from Turkey. Fotomaç reports that Galatasaray have made the 31-year-old their 'main target' to bolster midfield ahead of a title push.

The Turkish transfer window doesn't close until February 9 and so clubs from that country are free to sign players, even from places where the window is closed. It means that Eriksen could leave this week if talks progress and a deal goes through.

The Danish international has fallen out of favour this season with Ten Hag keen to add more energy in midfield. He signed Mason Mount from Chelsea last summer while Scott McTominay and academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo have also been preferred.
