Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri looks to be on his way out of Old Trafford, according to his agent. Edgardo Lasalvia is looking for a transfer for his client two years after he joined the Red Devils, according to reports.

ESPN Uruguay have reported Pellistri’s representative has confirmed that a departure for the winger is ‘imminent’ and he will look to use the World Cup as an opportunity to earn him a move. The Uruguay international made his full international debut against Paraguay back in January and has since made another six appearances.

Having featured in their most recent international friendly in September, it is likely that the 20-year-old will be called up to Diego Alonso’s World Cup squad alongside the likes of Darwin Nunez and Edinson Cavani.

While Pellistri is impressing for his national team, his club career hasn’t been quite as successful since his move to Old Trafford from Penarol in 2020. The youngster has since had two loan spells with Deportivo Alaves but is yet to make a single competitive appearance for United, despite being named on the bench on nine occasions this season.

Pellistri faces tough competition at Old Trafford if he wants to nail down a place in the starting line-up with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga are ahead of Pellistri in the pecking order at present.

If Pellistri has a stellar World Cup campaign this winter, it’s far from inconceivable that he will could in the January transfer window, though the attacker could also depart on loan for a third time.
