Manchester United have confirmed youngster Maxi Oyedele has joined Forest Green Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has been a regular for the club’s Under-21 side this season, missing just two league matches. He has also trained with the senior side, but is yet to be selected in a matchday squad.

The player will hope to gain valuable experience at Forest Green, who currently sit bottom of the Football League and have made the headlines this week after manager Troy Deeney publicly criticised the performance of his team in the 2-0 loss to Harrogate Town.

Oyedele can play in defence and midfield and has represented Poland’s Under-21s, despite being born in Manchester. The teenager could make his debut for Forest Green on Saturday when they travel to Gillingham and will wear the no.22 jersey.

Upon signing for the Gloucestershire side, Oyedele told the club’s website: "I’m very excited to be here and I’m looking forward to getting started.

“I will bring energy to the group, professionalism and quality as well. I will let loose and give it my all. There will be no stone unturned. I believe we can climb up the table, that’s why I’ve come here, so I’ll be doing everything I can to help with that.”

Deeney commented: “Maxi is a wonderful talent and we’re extremely lucky to have him here. The fans will enjoy watching him and we need to make sure we get him in a place where he can showcase his talents.”

Oyedele is the sixth player to depart on loan this transfer window, along with Alvaro Fernandez, Donny van de Beek, Hannibal, Jadon Sancho and Joe Hugill.
