The Man Utd and Man City winners at the Northwest Football Awards as Liverpool and Everton also pick up prizes

Manchester City were the big winners at the Northwest Football Awards as Mary Earps was honoured for her England and United heroics. 

More than 500 guests from across the football world attended the star-studded event at Lancashire Cricket’s Emirates Old Trafford on Monday night.

Following an unmatched season across European football as treble winners, City were on the receiving end of more silverware. In a fan vote, more than 100,000 people took to the polls to pick their favourites with Erling Haaland being named Best Premier League Player. 

On the touchline, Pep Guardiola retained his crown Manager of the Season. As for the women’s team, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw claimed the accolade for Women’s Player of the Season.

Elsewhere ex-City keeper Alex Williams MBE was presented the Lifetime Contribution Award for his ongoing commitment to the sport through the club’s community arm.

For United, Mary Earps was awarded with the Billy Seymour Impact Award for more than just her on-field achievements. The Lionesses star notably campaigned to get her England No.1 shirt on sale by calling out sportswear giants Nike.

Also in Greater Manchester, the League One Player of the Season award was presented to Dion Charles for his efforts with Bolton Wanderers, Salford City’s Elliot Watt took the League Two Prize and Altrincham’s Josh Lundstram, now with Oldham won the National League Player of the Season. 

Bolton Wanderers also won an award for their efforts in their local community.
