The Serb has made a major impact after replacing Matt Turner as the Revs number one following his move to Arsenal last summer and received praise from manager Bruce Arena for his performances.

Speaking after Petrovic’s display in a 0-0 draw at Vancouver Whitecaps in June last year, he said: “He played very well. He might have been the player of the match. He made a couple of big saves in the second half. He's doing very well. He's going to be a very good goalkeeper.”

Since making his first senior appearance in a 5-1 win over FC Cincinnati in a US Open tie in May 2022, Petrovic has gone on to keep nine clean sheets in 25 appearances in all competitions and is said to be capturing the attention of several clubs across Europe.

The Mirror have reported both United and Liverpool are considering a summer move for the 23-year-old as they expect something of a shakeup in their goalkeeping ranks at the end of the season.

With David de Gea firmly establised as Red Devils number one, there are several issues surrounding Erik ten Hag’s backup options at Old Trafford. England keeper Dean Henderson is unlikely to want to return to United after enjoying a productive spell on loan at Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest.

Jack Butland is expected to return to Crystal Palace when his loan deal comes to an end and is attracting interest from Scottish giants Rangers and Tom Heaton’s contract is now in its final months.

Liverpool find themselves in a similar situation as there are question marks over backup options Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian after they failed to dislodge Allisson as Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice stopper - and that could pave the way for a battle for the highly-rated Petrovic.
