Manchester United continue to dominate the gossip columns this week, with mounting speculation over a number of deals.

The Red Devils are widely expected to recruit in the aftermath of Sunday’s 2-1 opening day defeat to Brighton, but as yet, it is not entirely clear as to who Erik ten Hag will be bringing in to strengthen his squad.

With that in mind, here is Tuesday’s United-related speculation...

Rabiot wants Premier League move

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that United target Adrien Rabiot “would like” a move to the Premier League this summer.

The Juventus midfielder has emerged as a potential recruitment option for the Red Devils in recent days, with Ten Hag eager to bolster his options in the centre of the park.

And speaking to Caught Offside, Romano suggested that the player could be open to a switch.

He said: “He [Rabiot] has been one of the options on Manchester United’s list for weeks. Contacts were then accelerated over the weekend.

“The player would like a Premier League move but now negotiations are starting with his mother and agent Veronique, so it will be a financial discussion on salary and more.

“Juventus are open to selling him, the agreement between clubs is not a problem.”

United offered Aubameyang

Both United and Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by Barcelona, according to The Independent.

The La Liga giants are eager to offload a number of high-profile talents amid a tumultuous financial period in Catalonia, and it is understood that the former Arsenal striker could be among those they look to cut adrift.

The report suggests that Old Trafford chiefs are “cooler” on the idea of signing the Gabon international, while Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is more open to the possibility of working with his former Borussia Dortmund charge, with the West London still in the market for an out-and-out centre forward.

Stam convinced De Jong will sign

Former United defender Jaap Stam is still of the opinion that Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong will arrive at Old Trafford this summer.

The Dutchman has been at the centre of widespread speculation in recent weeks, with the Red Devils perpetually touted to complete a big money move for the former Ajax star.

Hopes of De Jong arriving in Manchester have cooled in recent days, however, with suggestions that the player is dissatisfied with the prospect of playing for United.

But Stam, speaking to Viaplay ahead of Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton, has emphasised his belief that there is still a deal there to be done.

He said: “My feeling is that Frenkie de Jong will come here [to Old Trafford].

“At Manchester United, they know for a long time that Frenkie de Jong wants to come otherwise they would never push this long to get it done. It’s just a money issue for now.”
