Man Utd receive improved second offer for Cristiano Ronaldo heir after ‘personal terms’ agreed claim
Napoli are keen to sign one of Manchester United’s top young prospects
Italian heavyweights Napoli are planning to test Manchester United’s resolve with a new and improved bid for Argentine wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho this month.
The Serie A title hopefuls are desperate to bolster their attacking options this month after the bombshell exit of fan favourite Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who completed a £59m move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the window after his impressive three-year stint in Naples.
Antonio Conte’s side are currently top of the Serie A table and chasing their second league title in three seasons after bouncing back from a disastrous 10th place finish last term.
They hope to offer Garnacho Champions League football next season and a key role in their starting line-up after failing to start in four of the last five games for Manchester United.
TeamTalk understands that Garnacho, who is also the subject of genuine interest from Chelsea, has already agreed personal terms over a five-year deal with Napoli which is believed to be worth around £2.5m.
However, Manchester United are thought to be keen to retain the eight-time international this month after turning down an initial offer of £40m from the three-time Italian champions.
Alejandro Garnacho’s career so far
Alejandro Garnacho grew up in Madrid to a Spanish father and an Argentine mother. He joined Atletico Madrid’s youth system in 2015 and five years later at just 16 years of age caught the attention of Manchester United who signed the youngster for £420,000.
Blessed with tremendous speed, agility and a natural ability to glide past defenders, Garnacho began to gain hype in the Manchester United youth team after scoring an excellent solo goal against Everton in the FA Youth Cup in February 2022.
That same season, he made his professional debut under Ralf Ragnick and was promoted to the first team on a permanent basis by successor Erik ten Hag who had been impressed by the youngster after his brace in the final of the FA Youth Cup win against Nottingham Forest.
Garnacho, who admitted to idolising Cristiano Ronaldo as a youngster, got to briefly play alongside his hero in his debut campaign as he helped Manchester United record a third place finish while lifting the Carabao Cup.
He showcased plenty of promise with five goals and five assists in all competitions in his first season, but took his performances to new heights last term by registering 10 goals and five assists in 50 appearances - including a goal in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.
Garnacho was a bright spark in a disappointing season for the Red Devils, but has struggled to show the same consistency this season.
Overall, he has a tally of 23 goals and 14 assists in 117 appearances for the Red Devils.
Could Alejandro Garnacho leave Man Utd?
TeamTalk correspondent Ben Jacobs has revealed that Napoli are expected to return to the table with an improved £46.5m offer for Alejandro Garnacho, but understands the Red Devils remain reluctant to sell.
At this stage, he claims Manchester United value Garnacho, who is under contract until 2028, at around £60m and will only seriously entertain a possible deal if that valuation is met.
Manchester United feel Garnacho is a prospect with great potential but are in a position this January where they will likely need to sell players to raise funds for incoming signings.
