Manchester United have reportedly agreed an initial £15m fee with Juventus for the signing of midfielder Adrien Rabiot from Juventus.

The Guardian claim the Italian club are ‘happy to sell’ the French international, with his agent, and mother, Veronique, needing to now approve a deal.

The same outlet add that a move for Rabiot will have no impact on the Red Devils’ pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, who remains the number one target for Erik ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports also report that United and Juve have agreed a fee for Rabiot, while personal terms still need to be sorted.

The 27-year-old can play as a holding midfielder or in a box-to-box role. He has earned 29 caps for the French national team and played in three of their four matches in June.

Journalist James Robson also claims Fabian Ruiz is a target for United, one they may turn to if a deal for De Jong cannot be agreed, with club officials said to be ‘scrambling’ in the final weeks of the window.

The Red Devils have also been linked with moves for Youri Tielemans and Ruben Neves in recent weeks.

Midfield has proved to be a problem position in the team, with Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion highlighting the ongoing problems in the centre of the park.

Ten Hag started with a midfield three of Fred, Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes, all of whom were withdrawn during the game.

It was an alarming display from a team that had largely impressed in pre-season, with stars such as Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford failing to produce.
