It is set to be a summer of change at Manchester United as the Ineos Group look to make their mark on the club.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to overhaul the entire sporting structure, with Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox targeted to help Omar Berrada revolutionise the way they are run.
There will also be plenty of changes on the pitch as well. United are targeting a number of key additions to their playing squad but their recruitment plans will rely heavily on how many players they sell first, with an extensive squad overhaul on the cards.
Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial and Tom Heaton are all out of contract this summer and a number of other first-team stars could be sold in order to boost their transfer budget, as well as ensure they meet Financial Fair Play regulations.
With that in mind, here are a look at the best squad numbers that could become available this summer...
1. 2 (Currently: Victor Lindelof)
There is a real uncertainty surrounding the Sweden international as he enters the final year of his current deal. He is a valued squad member but does not get the guaranteed playing time he would probably like. This summer, United must decide to either sell him while he retains a financial worth to the club, or contemplate a new deal in order to protect it. Photo: Manchester United via Getty Images
2. 3 (Currently: available)
This shirt has been vacant since Eric Bailly left the club two years ago. Famously worn by Denis Irwin and Patrice Evra, it could be the perfect number for a new defensive addition this summer. United will look to sign a centre-back and another left-back. Photo: Manchester United via Getty Images
3. 4 (Currently: Sofyan Amrabat)
United have no intention of making the Moroccan's move permanent in the summer. He will return to Fiorentina and vacate a shirt previously worn by the likes of Steve Bruce and Phil Jones. Another that would suit a centre-back. Photo: Manchester United via Getty Images
4. 9 (Currently: Anthony Martial)
The French forward is finally expected to leave United when his contract expires this summer. Sir Bobby Charlton's famous number has also been worn by Andy Cole, Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, so would suit another striker. It could even mean a shirt number change for Rasmus Hojlund.
