Manchester United will once again begin their pre-season schedule in Norway when they face Norwegian side Rosenborg on 15 July.

Erik ten Hag's side have played in Norway in each of their previous two pre-season campaigns, but unlike those matches in Oslo, this one will take place at the Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim.

The pre-season clash will see the record 20- times English champions face the record 26-times winners of the Norwegian Eliteserien for the first meeting between the two clubs for over 30 years.

United and Rosenborg have never faced off in a competitive fixture before but have faced the Norwegian side in friendlies during the 1990s and 1970s.

Speaking after the friendly was announced, United’s football director, John Murtough, said: “Everyone at Manchester United is pleased to be returning to Norway for the opening match of our pre-season campaign, renewing the special relationship which exists with our huge support base in Scandinavia.

“It’s surprising that these two clubs have never met competitively, and not for over 30 years in pre-season, making this a rare opportunity to see United taking on the most successful team in Norwegian football as we begin our preparations for the 2024/25 season.”
