'Soon' - Man United handed mega-positive injury update ahead of Man City, Lyon and Newcastle United games

One of Manchester United’s injury stars has teased a return to action

Manchester United youngster Ayden Heaven has posted a hugely-positive injury update on his Instagram telling supporters he’ll be back soon in action soon.

His message comes ahead of the Manchester derby with Manchester City on Sunday and ahead of the first leg of the Red Devils’ Europa League quarter final with Lyon. Ruben Amorim’s side then face Newcastle United on April 13 before their second leg against Lyon.

Heaven was signed by United from Arsenal in January and was thrust into the senior side ahead of the international break. After Leny Yoro was withdrawn against Arsenal in March, Heaven came off the bench and produced an impressive display for United. He was given the nod in games against Real Sociedad and Leicester City but picked up an injury against the Foxes.

Ayden Heaven injury update ahead of Man United v Man City

Posting a short but simple message on his Instagram story, Heaven said: “Soon back Reds!”. It comes after an update from Ruben Amorim earlier in the week ahead of the 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, as the United boss said: “It was not so serious so he is recovering. He is not ready to play [against Forest] but he is going to return this season, for sure.”

Heaven came in for praise after his performance against Arsenal, as Amorim said after his display: “I think he did really well. He is really comfortable with the ball. So relaxed, very aggressive and I think we have a very good player there.”

The player’s promotion into the senior side came amid a handful of injury concerns for United but Heaven still found himself being named in the starting XI ahead of the more experienced Victor Lindelof against Real Sociedad - highlighting Amorim’s faith in the youngster.

What potential Ayden Heaven return means for Man United

With Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro both fit again, Amorim may opt to go with a back three of those two along with Matthijs de Ligt against Man City. However, with United’s only genuine hope of qualifying for the Champions League coming via Europa League success, Amorim will need to rotate and be careful with managing the minutes within his squad - meaning Heaven could be used frequently in the coming weeks.

Heaven’s possible return could come at the ideal time for United, as De Ligt is struggling with an injury and could miss the game against City. Amorim said: “I think Matta has an issue. He has something during the game [at Forest] and we have to assess.”

United could get Kobbie Mainoo back for the game. Amorim added: “I think Kobbie is returning to training, so we’ll see and assess for this game already. Of course, he cannot play a full game, he’s a long time without training.”

Although the Europa League is United’s main focus, Amorim insisted ahead of their clash with City: “We want to win this game, we want to improve in the league table and especially we want to win games. We are going to have full focus on this game."
