Man United 'drawing up plans' to discuss move for Euro 2024 winger and want to 'count on him' next season

The Red Devils are looking to get a solid summer transfer window under their belt ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Transfer action at Old Trafford is starting to ramp up as Manchester United prepare for the 2024/25 season. The Red Devils are eager to improve their squad in order to keep up with those at the top of the Premier League table, having recorded their worst ever finish when they settled for eighth place last time.

United are looking to move on a bulk of their existing players while they also cast the net out for new recruits. While the likes of Jadon Sancho are being offered out to rival clubs, the Reds are looking to bring in new talent, as it has been made clear that the club are willing to listen to offers for virtually the whole senior squad.

United have a number of big names on their radar and according to Spanish outlet AS, they have ‘joined the list’ of club interested in signing Viktor Tsygankov this summer. The Girona winger is currently on holiday and has not yet joined up with his teammates for pre-season, but other clubs are hawking his situation.

The AS report claims that Arsenal were the first to explore interest in Tygankov, but both United and Aston Villa are now also in the running. Girona are said to be ‘calm’ about the current situation, as the 26-year-old has ‘told them he is happy’ where he is. The winger is also under contract until 2027, but he has a pretty low release clause of just €30 million (£25m) in place, which is going to be an easy sum for many clubs to meet.

Girona are yet to receive a formal offer from any of the clubs in question for Tsygankov but they have ‘contacted his entourage and agent’ to inform them they will be entering negotiations shortly. Both United and Villa are ‘drawing up their plans’ to approach the player and coax him to the Premier League, which will then open the door to transfer fee negotiations.

The report claims that Erik Ten Hag and Unai Emery have both told Tsygankov that they want to ‘count on him’ in their respective camps moving forwards. However, the Ukrainian is not in a position to make an immediate decision while currently on holiday and away from his club.

Tsygankov has been with Girona since January 2023 and is under contract for another three years. Despite struggling with a series of different injuries last season, he still managed to contribute eight goals and seven assists for his team. He also featured during Ukraine’s run at Euro 2024, where they exited in the group stages in a frustrating manner. Despite all four countries in Group E finishing with four points, it wasn’t enough for Ukraine to progress.
