Manchester United’s hopes of securing a top four finish this season are still very much in the balance, with the Reds going toe-to-toe with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham for Champions League qualification.

But while it’s all hands on deck when it comes to securing a spot at Europe’s top table, there’s no doubting that Old Trafford chiefs will have one eye on the summer transfer window, and how they can bolster their squad ahead of next term, already.

With that in mind, we’ve gathered up some of the latest transfer rumours doing the rounds in the red half of Manchester below...

United ‘confident’ of landing Rudiger

Man United are reportedly “confident” of winning the race to sign Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger if they appoint Thomas Tuchel as their new manager.

According to an update from Football Insider, the Reds believe that the prospect of luring the German coach to Old Trafford this summer could be enough to convince his compatriot to follow him to the north west.

Chelsea are currently unable to renew any contracts as a consequence of the economic sanctions placed on owner Roman Abramovich, with Rudiger’s deal set to expire at the end of the season.

There had already been widespread speculation surrounding the defender’s potential departure from Stamford Bridge, with United among the clubs credited with an interest.

This latest report doubles down on those claims, as well as emphasising that the Reds’ belief that they can beat the likes of Tottenham, Bayern Munich, and PSG to his signature.

A key factor could be a potential move for Tuchel, whose future has also been cast into doubt by the ongoing situation in West London.

United have been touted as one possible destination for the manager if he leaves the European champions, and his arrival could reportedly help in any agreement for Rudiger.

For his part, the centre-back is understood to be holding out for a deal worth around £300,000-a-week.

United remain ‘very hot’ on Nkunku

Man United are also said to be interested in securing a deal for RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku.

The midfielder has been in exemplary form this season, registering 26 goals and 15 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

And according to German outlet Bild, his displays have been enough to alert transfer chiefs at Old Trafford.

Having previously considered a swoop for the Frenchman in January, it is now understood that United could look to reignite their pursuit of the player at the end of the season, so much so that this latest report categorises their interest as ‘very hot’.

Nkunku is unlikely to come cheap, however, with Leipzig reportedly valuing the player at around £63 million.

United join race for Diaby

Alongside Nkunku, United are also said to be keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.

As per Sport1, the Reds have joined the race to land the 22-year-old, who is also attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The report suggests that Diaby’s current deal has no release clause, but that Leverkusen could look for a fee of around £50 million if they sell the player this summer.
