It’s a game which has produced some unforgettable moments over the years in the Premier League.

The Red Devils largely dominated the Manchester derby in the ‘90s and ‘00s as Alex Ferguson’s side hoovered up title after title.

However, City’s 2008 takeover changed the footballing landscape in Manchester and the Blues have had more favourable fixtures against their old foes in recent times.

But particularly in the period 2009 to 2012 there were some fiercely contested clashes between the two clubs, who were among the top sides in the country during that spell.

There was the Michael Owen winner, Wayne Rooney’s overhead kick, and who could forget the 6-1 trashing City administered at Old Trafford?

But the post-Ferguson era is certainly a period where City have enjoyed the derbies more, especially since Pep Guardiola’s arrival in the Premier League.

The Catalan manager has faced United 16 times since taking over at the Etihad and has won eight of those matches.

Last term, the Blues beat United home and away en route to reclaiming their Premier League title.

This season, United have a new man in the dugout, with Erik ten Hag knowing his opposite number well from their time together at Bayern Munich.
