Manchester City welcome Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in the Premier League.

The 4.30pm kick-off will be their 187th meeting between the two clubs, with United winning 77 so far, while City have 56 victories and honours have been even 56 times.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, the Sky Blues ran out 2-0 winners at Old Trafford in November, thanks to an own goal from Eric Bailly and Bernardo Silva poking home just before half-time.

The derby is regarded as one of the most competitive in the country due to both sides being touted for a top four finish this and the majority of previous seasons.

With that being said, we take a look at four of the most memorable players who have played for both City and United in the Premier League.

Carlos Tevez

Carlos Tevez was a key member for the Red Devils during his two seasons at Old Trafford, creating a formidable trio with Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney and winning six trophies in that period.

The Argentine switched the red of Manchester for the blue in 2009, a move that didn’t sit well with United fans and led to City displaying a memorable poster saying “Welcome to Manchester” with an image of the striker in a Sky Blues kit.

Tevez had a less successful period at the Etihad Stadium lifting three pieces of silverware in four years.

Owen Hargreaves

A player with so much promise when he joined United from Bayern Munich in 2007 Owen Hargreaves’ four seasons at Old Trafford were unfortunately plagued with injuries.

The former England international made only 39 appearances for the Red Devils in that time before following in Tevez’s footsteps and switching to City.

He spent one season at the Sky Blues, featuring four times in all competitions and scoring once.

Andy Cole

Andy Cole was a crucial member of Sir Alex Ferguson United squad during his seven years at Old Trafford. The striker, who joined the club for £6.25m in 1995, would go on to win nine trophies and become their 18th all-time leading scorer with 121 goals.

He later moved to City in 2005, via Blackburn Rovers and Fulham, spending one season with the Sky Blues before departing for Portsmouth.

Cole made 23 appearances in all competitions for City, scoring 10 goals and grabbing just one assist.

Peter Schmeichel

Another of Ferguson’s best pieces of business was the arrival of Peter Schmeichel from Brondby in 1991 for £505,000.

The Dane spent eight years as the club’s no.1 before departing for Sporting Lisbon at the end of the 1998-99 season.

Schmeichel signed for the Sky Blues in 2002 on a one-year deal at the age of 38, and didn’t suffer defeat against United during that campaign, meaning he retired having never lost a Manchester derby as a member of either side.
