Man City & Man Utd stars nominated for Premier League Player of Month - but Erling Haaland left out
Kevin De Bruyne and Marcus Rashford are up for the Player of the Month award for September.
Kevin De Bruyne and Marcus Rashford have been nominated for the September 2022 Premier League Player of the Month award.
September was a reduced month in terms of fixtures, with a round of matches called off following the death of the Queen, while three games were postponed last week due to police shortages in the days prior to the funeral.
Across the two games, Kevin De Bruyne provided three assists, two coming in the victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, and he’s subsequently been nominated for the September award.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is also up for the award having registered two goals and two assists for Manchester United in the current month.
He set up Jadon Sancho’s strike in the 1-0 win over Leicester City, and scored twice as United beat Arsenal 3-1 on 4 September, while providing the assist for Antony’s opener in that game.
The Manchester duo are nominated alongside Philip Billing (Bournemouth), Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Tottenham Hotspur), Alex Iwobi (Everton) and Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa), and fans can vote for their favourite here. Voting closes on Monday 26 September at 12:00pm.
It was Erling Haaland who scooped the August award with nine goals in the opening month of the campaign and, despite netting in both September matches, has been omitted from the shortlist on this occasion.
Remarkably, De Bruyne has never won the Premier League Player of the Month award, while Rashford’s solitary win came in January 2019.
