Manchester United and Manchester City were both represented in the Women’s Super League’s (WSL) monthly awards for April.

It was a double win for Manchester this month after the WSL confirmed both United and City had been awarded monthly awards following an outstanding April.

The regional win saw Manchester United’s Marc Skinner announced as April’s Barclays’ Manager of the Month while Chloe Kelly of Manchester City took Barclays’ Player of the Month after they both enjoyed an impressive April period.

Manchester United’s title challenge built momentum through April and saw Skinner’s pick up three vital league wins alongside a FA Cup semi-final victory. His side followed up their incredible 4-0 victory over Brighton with a determined 1-0 victory over Arsenal and a then secured a last gasp 3-2 win over Aston Villa thanks to Millie Turner’s injury time header.

As for Kelly, she was a stand out for City in April as they scored a league-high 12 goals across the month. The Lionesses forward assisted City’s goal in their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal before scoring twice and assisting once in City’s big win over West Ham. The winger rounded out the month with Player of the Match honours against Reading, scoring and assisting as well as having seven shots and creating eight chances.

Well done to both Marc and Chloe!
