Marcus Rashford has sent a defiant message on social media, rejected any suggestions that could leave Manchester United.

The attacker has scored just one goal in 14 appearances this season and has struggled to replicate the sort of form from last campaign that saw him net 30 in all competitions. Rashford has been criticised in recent weeks for his impact on the pitch, and for his off-the-field activities.

The 26-year-old attended a city-centre nightclub just hours after the recent Manchester derby loss, a decision Erik ten Hag branded as ‘unacceptable’, while Gary Neville claimed it was a ‘mistake’. Rashford played in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle United, but missed Saturday’s trip to Fulham due to a last-minute injury, and was forced to watch from the sidelines at Craven Cottage.

In response, fan channel The United Stand posted a live video on Monday morning titled ‘Rashford Future In Doubt?’. Meanwhile, the show’s presenter ‘Faz’ said he ‘didn’t buy’ the injury last weekend.

“How funny is it that these issues arose after him going out to this club for his birthday?” he added, in the YouTube video. “I think there is something else going on.

"I think it might have been a form of punishment to get him to travel all the way [to Fulham]. His body language... he doesn't look like he's happy at the moment. He doesn't look like he's in a happy place with the club. I don't know if he fully wants to be here, where his commitment is."

In response, Rashford wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Please STOP spreading malicious rumours.”

It is also the first time in over two months that the United star had posted on his X account, although he is more active on Instagram.

Rashford could return for Wednesday’s Champions League encounter against Copenhagen, a match United most probably need to win if they still hope to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
