Manchester United showed huge improvement under new head coach Michael Carrick when they swept Man City aside over the weekend.
The former United midfielder went back to basics with an extremely effective 4-2-3-1 formation that focused on fast attacking play and utilising their best players in their favoured positions. Bruno Fernandes pulled the string in the attacking midfield role, while Kobbie Mainoo appeared revitalised in his favoured central midfield position.
Carrick will hope to build upon the Man City performance in the coming weeks and will face tougher tests in matches when United are expected to dominate. It seems like some solid foundations are already in place for further success under the new head coach, and here is what United's strongest line up might be after their recent formation change.
