Manchester United have 'made progress' in their contract talks with star forward Amad Diallo. The Ivorian is technically out of contract at the end of the season, though United currently have the option to extend his contract by an additional year if they wish to do so.
United are understood to be relaxed about Amad’s future and could trigger the extension to buy themselves more time during the contract talks, though Fabrizio Romano believes an agreement could even be reached by the end of the calendar year.

Hide AdAmad has been the standout performer during Ruben Amorim’s first three matches in charge of the club and was the standout player as they defeated Everton 4-0 in the Premier League at the weekend. The 22-year-old now has three goals and five assists across all competitions so far this season and could soon be rewarded with a lucrative new contract to recognise his growing role in the first-team.
“Understand Manchester United made good progress with Amad Diallo’s new contract in recent weeks!” Romano posted on social media on Monday night. “United are working to get new long term deal done before the end of 2024… even before activating club clause to extend current deal until 2026. Amad, key for club and Amorim.”
Speaking after the weekend win over Everton, head coach Amorim thanked former interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy for helping to restore the young forward’s confidence in front of goal.
He said: “He was really good again. He's in a great moment but that moment started with Ruud, I've just taken advantage of Ruud's work with Amad. He was really good defending, really good attacking. He has to continue to play like that. You could feel at the end of the game he was really tired so we need to manage that, to increase his physical ability.”
