Macklemore becomes latest famous fan to confirm Man Utd allegiance with head-turning Old Trafford appearance

American rapper and 'Thrift Shop' star Macklemore has become the latest famous football fan to confirm his allegiance to Manchester United.

The star made a trip to Old Trafford over the weekend to watch the Red Devils beat Everton 2-0 in the early kick-off on Saturday.

Macklemore, who is currently touring his new album BEN across the UK and Europe, performed at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on Sunday night.

The rapper donned a grey suit with a tie and a pair of humongous sunglasses as he enjoyed the Premier League action at Old Trafford from hospitality seats. He added a pin of the Irish flag as a nod to his heritage after having played to over 26,000 people during two sold-out 3Arena shows in Dublin the previous week.

The star also posed for selfies with fans at Old Trafford who shared the pictures online thanking Macklemore for taking the time to snap a photo.

It turned out to be a good fixture for the American to take in on his visit with Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial goals marking a confident Manchester United performance as they saw off the relegation-threatened Toffees.

Macklemore joins a long list of singers and rappers known to be United fans including Harry Styles, Justin Timberlake and The Script's Danny O'Donoghue, amongst many others.

The 'Can't Hold Us' rapper is known for his love of a sport and is heavily involved with both the American football and 'soccer' clubs back home in Seattle.

Macklemore is part of the Seattle Sounders FC ownership group and has shown a lot of support for the American football side Seattle Seahawks, where he has performed and worked on promotional material.

The star is also part of the ownership group of the ice hockey side Seattle Kraken.
