Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is now under serious pressure after yet another big defeat at Old Trafford. The Red Devils followed up their 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City with a Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United by the same scoreline on Wednesday night.

The Carabao Cup exit caps an already disappointing start to the season which has left United looking up at the European places and behind schedule in their Champions League group. We have seen bad headline after bad headline, and Ten Hag has not helped himself with a huge public falllout with Jadon Sancho that continues to dominate headlines due to the treatment Sancho is receiving.

Results are now stacking up against the Dutchman, who appears to be losing support quickly, with United fans booing their manager and players off the pitch after Wednesday night's performance.

"Last night we saw the Theatre of Dreams turn into the Theatre of Nothing. Every single United fan bored and flat," Gary Neville wrote on X. "On the pitch the players in shock, the performances woeful and a manager struggling in front of our eyes. We’ve seen it before, we know how it ends and we’ve had enough."

Neville added on Sky Sports on Thursday morning: "Last night we saw the Theatre of Dreams turn into the Theatre of Nothing. Every single United fan bored and flat. On the pitch the players in shock, the performances woeful and a manager struggling in front of our eyes. We've seen it before, we know how it ends and we've had enough." Arsenal legend Paul Merson added: "It's now a big game on Saturday away to Fulham. I don't see how much further this goes on. For me, he [Ten Hag] is under serious pressure. I personally think the manager has lost the players."
