Liverpool FC star ruled out of Manchester United clash but Arne Slot confirms double fitness boost

The confirmed team news as Man Utd travel to face Liverpool FC in the Premier League this weekend.

Alisson Becker has been formally ruled out of Liverpool's clash with Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend. The Brazilian goalkeeper was withdrawn during their 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League and subsequently the recent missed international duty.

Alisson was not involved for Brazil in their Far East friendlies against South Korea or Japan and will not be available for selection when they host United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. It means goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to keep his place in goal after he started the defeat to Chelsea last time out.

Liverpool have suffered three consecutive defeats across all competitions, though those losses have come on the road, and they have been flawless at home this season. In terms of other injury news, Ryan Gravenberch has been deemed 'completely fit' after he suffered an injury scare for the Netherlands, while Ibrahima Konate has returned to training after he withdrew from the France squad.

Liverpool team news update vs Manchester United

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, Liverpool boss Arne Slot provided a team news update ahead of the Manchester United clash.

"Ryan [Gravenberch] is completely fit.," he said. "Konate has come back to us and is expected to train today. Alisson [Becker] - he is not training, he is out. It's so difficult to say [when he will return] because the end phase of rehab can give positives and negatives, but he will not play this weekend or next week."

When pushed on the prospect of hosting United this weekend, Slot also praised their opponents and claimed they are doing better under Ruben Amorim than some people might think. He added: "I look forward to every single Premier League game, but maybe more the Man United one because I know how special it is. We know it's the game that is perhaps watched the most all over the world. It's a game we have to be at our best, because in my opinion United have had a better start to the season than the league table suggests."

Ruben Amorim will provide his own team news update when he hosts his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon. His quotes will be available from the slightly earlier time of 1:15pm BST.
