Lisandro Martinez highlights key reason he decided to complete Man Utd transfer

Lisandro Martinez revealed a belief he will achieve success at Manchester United was key in his decision to join the club.
Martinez’s transfer was confirmed on Wednesday, following the completion of his medical and visa approval.

Hide AdThe Argentine has opted to sign for manager Erik ten Hag, whom he played under at Ajax.
In a statement, United said: “Lisandro Martinez has completed his transfer from Ajax to Manchester United, signing a contract until June 2027, with the option to extend for a further year.”
Martinez added: “It’s an honour to join this great football club. I’ve worked so hard to get to this moment and now that I’m here I’m going to push myself even further.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be part of successful teams in my career and that’s what I want to continue at Manchester United. There will be a lot of work to get to that moment, but I firmly believe that under this manager and coaches, and together with my new team-mates, we can do it.

Hide Ad“I want to thank Ajax and their fans for all the support they gave me. I had an unbelievable time there but feel the moment is right to test myself in another environment. Now I am at the perfect club to do that.”
Football Director John Murtough said: “Lisandro is an outstanding player who will bring further quality and experience to Erik’s squad.
“We are delighted that he has chosen to join Manchester United, and we are looking forward to seeing him develop further and help the team achieve the success we are aiming for.”
Martinez becomes the third player to join United this summer, following the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.

Hide AdThe latter was officially unveiled as a Red Devil on Tuesday and said Ten Hag’s tactics played a big role in his decision to sign.
"First of all, the football,” he told the club’s webiste. I mean, I’m a guy who wants to play football and I think with the idea of the manager coming in and the ideas he had and also with my conversations with him, I mean I could see myself playing football in Manchester.
“At the same time, it’s a very, very big club – if not the biggest. If you pronounce it anywhere they know where it’s from, they know where the locals come from. It has a big history and it’s a nice feeling to be part of something that is that big in history."
