Jean-Clair Todibo to Man Utd transfer latest: OGC Nice chief makes statement amid Bayern Munich links

All the latest surrounding a possible transfer involving Manchester United and Jean-Clair Todibo.

Manchester United continue to be linked with OGC Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo as Erik ten Hag and the club's recruitment chiefs search for defensive reinforcements. It has been a quiet transfer window so far for the Red Devils, who find themselves walking a wire with Financial Fair Play and unable to spend significantly this month.

Still, they are in need of a centre-back signing, and even if they have to wait until the summer, a signing in that position will be a priority sooner or later for Ten Hag. Todibo has been among the most-linked players, and with that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest surrounding a possible transfer involving the Frenchman.

United links

United have been linked with Todibo regularly over recent months as they chase defensive reinforcements. Raphael Varane's future at the club does not appear to be certain, while Jonny Evans, who has played a bigger role than expected, is only likely to be around until the end of the season.

The Red Devils likely have to wait until the summer to land a new centre-back, given their lack of spending power under FFP rules, but it is likely it is one of the positions they will priroritise this summer. Todibo has been mooted as the main target given his impressive performance for Nice, and indeed for France. While the link is also likely influenced by the face United's part-owner Jim Ratcliffe also owns Nice.

Competition claim

With Todibo still only 24 and playing at such a high level, it's no surprise that there are reports of interest from other clubs ahead of the summer. One of the clubs to have been linked recently is Bayern Munich.

Fichajes claim the German club could make a move ahead of next season despite the fact they invested in the centre-back position as recently as last summer, signing Kim min-Jae from Napoli. Bayern have been big spenders over recent times, which may concern United.

Nice chief speaks

In the latest update, Nice sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has spoken about the interest in Todibo, shutting down any talk of a January move for his side's star centre-back. “We want to have stability, and stability is keeping your best players,” Ghisolfi told Entwisle. “JC [Jean-Clair Todibo] and Khephren Thuram are definitely that. We absolutely want to keep them.”
